Free-Range Slacks

I have been eying this pattern for a while, debating whether it would be worth the money; an elasticated waist pant, hmmm. I do like the detail with the side panel, elevating the pants from just an elasticated waist pant imo 🙂 So, I bought it, and am very happy I did, I love these pants. Especially in these Corona-times I want soft, elasticated pants hehe!

The first pair I made I used the wide leg option, lengthening the legs by 3 cms (I am 5’10″/ 178 cm). Usually I scoop out the back crotch on pants, but I could see other people mentioning that it was not necessary in these – for me this was true too. I chose from my hip size, size 10, grading to size 8 in the legs; my hip fell in size 6/8, but I worried that I wouldn’t be able to pull the pants above my hips if I sized down in the waist, and it worked out fine with a size 10 waist.

It was an easy, straight forward make; all pattern pieces fit together, the instructions were clear – including cutting the fabric, I made these up in one day, taking several breaks.

I made them in an army green cotton twill, that is very soft and nice. I really like these! I have made the narrow leg option too, in linen:
